Gameplay

  • Quantum Travel Polish
    • We have made large adjustments to Quantum Travel speeds, accelerations, fuel storage, use, and prices in 3.24.2 that will help balance movement around the PU. Ship fuel tank sizes have been balanced across all ships to adjust for archetype with some getting less fuel and others being able to hold more. Quantum Drives have all been adjusted for fuel use, speed, and acceleration to balance ship travel based on shorter and longer distance archetypes. Cooldown times have not been adjusted.

  • Modified the default Ship Power distribution to allocate full power to most pools, but less to triangle pools

:jack_o_lantern:(Thor’s Day) We are currently working on a TECH-PREVIEW build for a playtest starting early this afternoon with many updates to RMQ/Meshing. Test will start out at 100 players per mesh and increase as we analyze data!

sc-testing-chat | Wakapedia-CIG: We have lots of UI readability updates coming in the next 3.24.2 build from Zane. Chromatic aberration should respect the setting again on UI elements and stuff and much more for kiosk UIs being stretched. Goal will be tomorrow for all that.

Any performance issues are already being looked into with the LIVE QA team. They can get captures and other data to see if there is anything going on but performance is definitely being looked into

No missions [in the Tech Preview] test today, you’ll see more on this once we move to 4.0 evo testing and beyond.

[All Backers TECH-PREVIEW] RMQ Meshing Playtest Round #6

Notable Changes

  • Stability improvements including addressing the crash we had seen in the last test that was occurring at high player counts
  • We have made changes to the territory distribution algorithm which distributes them amongst the DGS’s in the mesh, this should make for more balanced DGS performance across the mesh
  • Additional performance data capture, we have made some changes on how we gather performance data to include more information about what a specific DGS in the mesh has streamed in at the time of a capture, this will help us when turning performance.
  • Display info will now show how many players are on a specific DGS with you and connected across the mesh
  • Many more behind the scenes changes which may not be noticeable but continue improve performance and stability as well as laying the groundwork for functionality that will arrive later
