Star Citizen 4.0.2 in EVOCATI with ... PYRO JUMPTOWN?

In the latest Star Citizen Live episode, developers announced the monthly patch 4.0.2 currently in Evocati testing, focusing on gameplay stability rather than new content, while introducing a competitive PvP event called “Supply or Die” in the Pyro system. The patch includes various gameplay adjustments, networking improvements, and around 35 potential bug fixes, alongside a giveaway for a Misk Fortune with LTI for viewers.

In the latest episode of Star Citizen Live, the developers announced a significant shift in their patch release strategy, moving from quarterly updates to monthly patches. The first of these monthly updates, 4.0.2, is currently in the Evocati testing phase. This patch aims to focus less on introducing new content and more on enhancing gameplay stability and addressing critical issues. Additionally, it will kick off a new event called “Supply or Die,” which is set in the Pyro system and is designed to bring a competitive, PvP experience reminiscent of the Jump Town event.

The “Supply or Die” event will provide players with opportunities to gather supplies in specific areas of the Pyro system, creating a dynamic environment for competition and resource acquisition. This event will run throughout the PTU cycle of patch 4.0.2 and will involve various factions for players to join, emphasizing its PvP nature. However, during the Evocati phase, players are encouraged to avoid conflict with one another, as a no-PvP rule is in effect until further testing waves are opened.

The patch also includes several gameplay adjustments and improvements. Notable changes involve reducing the maximum player look rotation scale for the dedicated tractor tool to enhance the weightiness of items. Additionally, the developers have implemented new distance values for the spawning of salvage ships to improve the overall experience and avoid clutter at rest stops. Various ships, including the Misk Fortune and the Mirai Guardian, have undergone visual and detail enhancements, while the Turbo Storm has seen adjustments to its storage capacity.

Networking improvements are a key focus of this patch, aimed at reducing load times and enhancing AI navigation performance. The developers have also made optimizations to instance hangar performance and lighting within landing zones. In total, the patch is expected to include around 35 potential bug fixes, including five client crash fixes and ten server crash fixes. The team has noted that while they test these fixes internally, issues may still arise once players begin to interact with the game, leading to their careful phrasing around the fixes as “possible.”

Finally, the video concludes with an announcement of a giveaway for a Misk Fortune with LTI. Viewers are encouraged to subscribe to the channel and comment on videos for a chance to win, with Patreon and YouTube members receiving automatic entries. The host expresses gratitude to supporters and viewers, emphasizing the community aspect of Star Citizen and the ongoing developments within the game.
